Hi, my name is Hope Estheim. Student, resident of Palumpolum and savior of Cocoon! Sort of... Well, I helped...

Hope is a normal boy from a normal family whose childhood on Cocoon can best be described as uneventful. Inexperienced in the ways of the world, and wont to turn to his mother for protection, he is completely unprepared for the turmoil into which his life is thrown when he is unexpectedly caught up in the Sanctum's brutal Purge.

Serah noticed he hadn’t touched his place. Lifting his head from his chin, the pinklette gave him a comforting smile. “Hey… you okay?” She asked him, a worried tone in her voice. The time traveler moved her tender hand from his chin to his face, she reminded him of Noel in some ways. “If there’s anything wrong, you can always tell me.”

“I-I’m just confused,” Hope explained, pushing his plate aside. “When we were made l’cie,” he started, “It was the stuff of legends. It sure wasn’t fun, but we knew what was happening to us. We knew what needed to be done, and we knew the consequences. I’m just a bit freaked out, because this is the first thing like that to happen lately, but this time I have no idea what happened or what caused it!”

After a pause, the boy looked back at Serah with an apologetic smile on his face. “I know I’ve talked about this already. I’m sorry, it’s just really bothering me…”

“Hey Hope!” Serah called out from behind him. She just finished eating, and was getting ready to go back upstairs. The boy seems alienated, so she decided to join him. “You can eat there if you’re hungry. You want me to come with you?”

Hope nodded, still a bit uneasy from his stress from the previous night. As he and his companion sat at the nearby table so that he could eat, he barely touched his food. He almost felt sick. It was just impossible to process these events. Hope shouldn’t have been so confused, but he couldn’t help it. He just hoped he wasn’t worrying Serah too much.

Come the next day, Serah woke up earlier than Hope. The pinklette glanced at the silver hair lad, and headed downstairs. Stopping near the door, she scribbled a note on the table for him.

I’m going to go ahead and eat my breakfast. I’ll see you downstairs.

-Serah

She left the note on his bed and headed downstairs.

Hope had been awake when Serah woke up, but he feigned being asleep. He didn’t want to get up just yet. He didn’t want to see that they were still Pulse knows where. Eventually, though, he dragged himself up, reassuring himself that they’d be home soon.

He read the note from Serah, still a bit preoccupied, but started out of their room and down the steps. When he got there, though, he had a hard time finding her. He really did not know where he was going.

After some time of speaking the the manager, Serah made her way back to the room. She had already arranged their breakfast and bought their supplies for the next day. Who know, perhaps some sort of evil might pop up the next day?

The pinklette carefully pushed the door open and saw Hope lying down. He seemed… lost in a way that she couldn’t explain. Truth be told, the time traveler sympathized for the young man. For someone so young, he experienced such traumatizing events that would no doubt stay in his mind for the most, if not all, of his life.

“Hey Hope!” Serah exclaimed, beaming. “I’ve finished up the things downstairs. You should go ahead and rest, I’m going to take a shower.” She told him, heading for the bathroom.

Hope nodded in agreement, not bothering to say anything. He watched Serah disappear into the bathroom, and sat back up on the edge of the bed. He didn’t have any extra clothes or anything, so he just merely kicked off his shoes and climbed into bed. It felt nice to finally be in a comforting setting.

Maybe they could get through until they reached his town. Just maybe. Then he’d be back with his dad, they could arrange for Serah to get back to wherever she needs to be, and everything would be okay again. But, what if this happens again? What if it happens again and I’m NOT lucky enough to find someone to help me…? He was thankful that Serah happened to be there with him this time. Hopefully it just doesn’t happen again. Before he realized it, Hope had fallen asleep.

“You don’t think your dad’s in any danger, do you…?” Serah blurted suddenly without thinking. after a few seconds, she clasped her mouth and shook her head. Serah, what are you thinking? Shaking her head, disappointed in herself, the pinklette offered Hope an apologetic and reassuring smile. “I-I’m sure he’s already…”

The time traveler laid a hand on his shoulder and gently turned him around. “You should get some rest… let me handle the situation, okay?” She said, trying to reassure him with everything she had. After all, Serah was the responsible person at the moment. “You can use the bathroom and freshen up first. I’ll go down to the lobby and fix our schedule for tomorrow.” The pinklette told him, heading down the stairs.

As Serah turned and left the room, Hope found his way to the bathroom. The first thing he did was splash some water on his face. He was so flushed, and the cold water felt nice on his burning skin. As he exited and sat on the bed, waiting for Serah, he was lost in thought. He hoped his dad was okay. He hoped he wasn’t worried about where his son was.

Hope was still confused as to how he got there as well, but that matter seemed to have passed a while ago. But still, why him and Serah? And why did they appear where they were? And how? He didn’t have the slightest idea about what could have happened. He didn’t expect that Serah would know either, so he decided to let it go. All this thinking left him laying on the bed, staring up at the ceiling.

#sorry late reply #^^'

darknessfadetolight:

Serah began to contemplate about a few things. She wondered how far would they need to keep going, about how Lightning, Noel and Snow were doing, about how Hope was feeling… it all just made her dizzy. The pinkllete stood up and noticed Hope outside the door holding a telephone. His expression read ‘troubled’, and Serah didn’t like that one bit.

Walking over to him, she gently placed a hand on his shoulder and smiled. “Hey, is everything alright?”

“Oh, yeah…” Hope replied, hanging up the phone as Serah approached him. “I just thought I should try to call my dad. No one answered though. He’s probably working again.” Hope sighed and looked down at his feet. His dad was always working. The boy didn’t quite mind the work in general, nor the fact that his dad wouldn’t tell him exactly what it was, but Hope had spent so long avoiding his dad. It was only after his mom died, while he was a l’cie, that he finally forgave him. But because of that, Hope had lost so much time.

“Sorry,” he said, looking back up at Serah. “I’m just a bit anxious. I need to tell dad where I am.”

#YOU'RE BACK! #:D

darknessfadetolight:

Serah looked over and saw the town as well, it wasn’t that far from where they were. Her feet were aching, but the pinklette could make it that far. Sighing inside, she blamed herself for not having the same stamina her sister possessed. If things went on like this, how would she find Lightning in time?

The time traveler stood up after a few seconds and nodded. “Yeah, I’ll be fine… no need to worry about me. Let’s go Hope!” Serah began to walk again, giving the young boy an encouraging smile.

Thankfully, it was not very long of a walk. When they reached the town, the people were nice enough to direct them to a small inn in which they could stay overnight. Serah went to sit on her bed without hesitation, while Hope found his way to the nearest phone. He wanted to call his dad to make sure he wasn’t worrying, but to the silver-haired boy’s dismay, no one answered.

Rikku was peering inside the room, holding the item tightly in her hand. Thanks to her experience in being a thief, she was practically able to be in plain sight, and be unseen. But since her garments where rather odd in this world, Rikku wouldn’t be able to use her magic. At least, not that magic.

The Al Bhed looked for a perfect chance to start their plan, and found it. Something had gone wrong in the kitchen, and things were falling all over the place. The device she had planted earlier was working. Perfect.

“Hey you guys, what’s all the-” The two old friends had begun to face her. Even if they had seen her coming, they couldn’t warn her from the items she would trip over. Streamers fell from no where, and as did plates and napkins. A good distraction. Throughout all that commotion, the bottle she had was flying towards Hope. Before the young man knew what hit him, white smoke was coming from where he once stood.

It wasn’t long before things started falling everywhere. The young man was startled, but also quite confused. He had no idea what was causing everything to fall. Hope had no time to warn Rikku before she followed them in and started to trip. Then, something hit him.

It did not feel all that big, but nevertheless, Hope could feel himself drop to the ground. He was enveloped by a cloud of white smoke, and he suddenly blacked out.

darknessfadetolight:

For a while, the both of them walked in silence. Serah didn’t really want to disturb the boy with worthless chit chat, and he seemed to be contemplating by himself. Serah, too, was preoccupied with her own thoughts as well. She wondered about Noel and where he was along with Caius and Yuel. The pinklette stayed close by his side, but made sure to give him enough personal space.

“Hey Hope…” Serah said after they walked quite a distance. She made her way over to a bench and sat down. Her feet had started to ache already and she was a bit dehydrated and hungry, plus the sun seemed to be going down already. The time traveler assumed that the boy’s house was still further away. “…is your house still far away? If we can’t make it tonight, I suggest we stay the night at a town. Traveling when it’s dark is very dangerous, and I don’t want anything to happen to us…”

“Yeah, I guess it is pretty far…” Hope muttered, gazing in the direction of his home. The boy started looking around for a place they could stay, when he saw what looked like a town a little farther down the road. “There’s a town over there,” He continued, pointing toward it. “Maybe we can find a place to stay.” He looked down sympathetically at Serah, who was still rubbing her feet. “Can you make it?”
